Anthropic raises $65B in Q2 2026, becoming the most valuable private company on Crunchbase's Unicorn Board

· VC Investment

Crunchbase reports Anthropic raised roughly $65 billion in the second quarter of 2026. That single round absorbed close to a third of all global venture funding for the quarter. The raise pushed Anthropic past OpenAI on Crunchbase's Unicorn Board leaderboard, a move helped along by SpaceX exiting to the public markets. Billion-dollar rounds have become routine: 16 companies closed one in Q2, totalling about $108.6 billion, or 53% of second-quarter funding.

Why it matters: When one company can soak up a third of a quarter's venture capital, the market is no longer a broad bet on startups but a concentrated wager on a few AI leaders.
