CISA to roll out AI defensive platform and LLM-security directive after June 2026 executive order

· CyberSecurity

Following a June 2026 executive order on AI, CISA is building a platform to give federal agencies access to AI-enabled defensive capabilities. Acting director Nick Andersen said specific AI platform access for governmentwide partners would begin rolling out imminently. The order directed CISA, within 30 days, to release Binding Operational Directives and guidance to expedite civilian federal cyber defence. It also directed CISA to expand AI-enabled defensive tools, including facilitating access to frontier models for agencies, state and local authorities, and critical-infrastructure operators.

Why it matters: Putting frontier models in the hands of federal and critical-infrastructure defenders could reshape how quickly the government detects and responds to attacks.
