Ransomware disclosures climb to 7,551 victims in 2026, up 24.9%
Black Kite's 2026 ransomware report counted 7,551 publicly disclosed victims, a 24.9% jump that extends a four-year climb. The pace held into the summer. July logged 111 publicly disclosed attacks across 27 countries, with the United States accounting for 53% of incidents and healthcare the most-targeted sector at 35%. Roughly 47% of July incidents stayed unattributed, and The Gentlemen was the most active named group.
Why it matters: A rising, US-heavy victim count concentrated on healthcare signals that ransomware pressure on critical services keeps intensifying, not plateauing.
